Requirements to receive
full training certifications

Essential Criteria for Successfully Achieving Certification

Premises

1. Your growth as a Coach-In-Training
The purpose of all the assigned works in each training program and the collaboration with your Trainer/Mentor in an ongoing process throughout the program are essential parts of your evolution.

2. Full partnership with your Trainer/Mentor
Only your full partnership with the trainer will produce the desired results in your evolution as a coach: that is why your participation in the online classes is only 20% of your  whole commitment.

3. Students’ responsibility
The students are responsible for producing the works required by each training program, which are the ICF requirements to fulfill in order to obtain full certifications with SunLight Academy’s programs. Students are responsible for sharing the works with their trainers/mentors in the shared Google Drive created by SunLight Academy for each student.

4. Sharing files
All the files have to be shared with the trainer by uploading them on the shared drive.

Requirements for all Training Programs

The students are responsible for producing the following works, which are the general requirements to fulfill in order to obtain the certification in each program with SunLight Academy. Students are responsible for sharing them with their trainers/mentors in the shared Google Drive created by SunLight Academy for each student:

1) Oral Exam
The students produce 5 (for Level 1 or Level 3) or 6 (for Level 2) live coaching sessions to be observed and assessed by the trainers/mentors. The audio + transcript + self-assessment need to be uploaded in Google Drive and shared with your trainer in full alignment with the ICF guidelines for Performance Evaluations at this link. They receive a form with written feedback for each session and the outcome will discussed with the student. The students are responsible for keeping the confidentiality and safeness required by the ICF Ethic Code, in relation to all the data and information shared during the sessions both with internal and external clients.

2) Coaching Definitions
Th students are required to create their own definitions regarding: the coaching profession, the coaching process, the responsibilities of the coach and the client, the benefits of coaching and the characteristics of a coaching process. This Word file has to be shared with the trainer by uploading it on the shared drive in order to be reviewed by the trainer, with consistency and during the whole period of training.

3) Book Presentation
The students are required to read a book – exclusively from the SunLight Academy’s bibliography – they create a presentation of their reading and learning, in alignment with the ICF approach, and they present their work firstly to their Trainer for review and to co-create the final version to be presented to the SunLight Community.

4) Review of coaching sessions with PCC Markers or ACC or MCC BARs forms produced by each student in order to raise their competence
The students are required to review and assess a minimum of 8 sessions that can be chosen in the Student Portal, and these works needs to be shared in progression with the trainer. After each work, the students are required to engage with the trainer by sharing in a call their reflective activity that will support them in their development of their level of coaching.

5) The students create their own coaching project or business plan or legacy project
The students are required to create a project or a business plan that is personalized on their identity as coaches and on their own unique coaching approach. This work has the purpose to enhance their ability to craft their own coaching business from the beginning, it allows them to be aware of how they want to make a difference in the coaching profession and with their own clients at chosen level of training. For the MCC Level 3 program, the MCC legacy project has the purpose to support the Coach in the transition of their identity from PCC to MCC.

6) Journaling: students’ ongoing reflective activity
The students keep a journal, in order to conduct a reflective practice on what they are learning during the length of the chosen training program, on how they are learning and what is their own learning philosophy. This Word file has to be shared with the trainer by uploading it on the shared drive in order to be reviewed by the trainer, with consistency and during the whole period of training (at least once every 30 days or more often). While approaching the end of the training program, the students share a report with their trainers with the conclusions of what the students have done and achieved in this project during the months.

7) Written Exam
The students complete and pass a written final test on the coaching definitions, ICF coaching competencies and ICF Code of Ethic, based on multiple choice and open-ended questions.

SunLight Academy Standards

1. Communications about all training activities are sent through Slack and through the SunLight Whatsapp Group; regular use of these platforms is needed by the student in order to keep updated with the training activities

2. One-to-one messages with the trainer are sent and received through Slack

3. Work needs to be produced weekly. We suggest a media of 2 activities per week shared by the student with the trainer, otherwise the student’s progress towards the chosen certification level – Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 according to ICF standards – can be compromised. If that is the case, the trainer can ask you to momentarily stop coming to class in order to wisely and effectively use your remaining training hours and try the best to reach the desired results. This is a support measure used by the Trainer, however it is the full responsibility of the student to commit, follow the Trainer instructions and produce the needed work to evolve as a Coach

4. The lessons plan is communicated months in advance and for the whole coming semester (with dates, times and topics of the lessons). Its crucial that you block that time in advance in your agenda for your active participation in all the lessons planned.

Check with your trainer what you have successfully completed until now and what still needs to be done to complete all your assignments. It is your responsibility to commit and be compliant with the ICF requirements to receive your full certificate.
