The ICF offers three levels of credentials, each representing a coach’s experience and mastery. Explore ICF Credentials here
Associate Certified Coach (ACC)
The ACC credential is designed for coaches who are at the beginning of their professional journey. To earn the ACC, candidates must complete at least 60 hours of coach-specific training through an ICF-accredited program, accumulate 100 hours of coaching experience with at least 8 clients, and engage in 10 hours of mentor coaching with a qualified mentor coach. Additionally, candidates must pass the ICF Credentialing Exam and submit a performance evaluation of a recorded coaching session.
Beginner Level
Ideal for those with no prior coaching experience, and for professionals in organizations—such as managers or HR leaders—who want to develop coaching skills to enhance communication, leadership, and performance at work.

Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
The PCC credential is intended for experienced coaches seeking to demonstrate their proficiency in coaching skills, knowledge, and competence. Candidates must complete at least 125 hours of coach-specific training, accumulate 500 hours of coaching experience with at least 25 clients, and participate in 10 hours of mentor coaching with a PCC or MCC credentialed coach. In addition, two recorded coaching sessions for performance evaluation and passing the ICF Credentialing Exam.
Intermediate to Advanced
Designed for coaches with prior training and experience who want to deepen their practice and move toward professional mastery or credentialing. Ideal for those ready to enhance their skills, expand their approach, and grow as confident, effective coaches.

Master Certified Coach (MCC)
The MCC credential represents the highest level of coaching mastery. It is designed for PCC seasoned coaches who have demonstrated a high level of mastery in coaching. To qualify, candidates must complete at least 200 hours of coach-specific training, accumulate 2,500 hours of coaching experience with at least 35 clients, and engage in 10 hours of mentor coaching with an MCC credentialed coach. The submission of two recorded coaching sessions is required together with passing the ICF Credentialing Exam.
